2018 Alliance Council

Your very own Alliance Council. A Decade Strong - And Counting

My first football (sorry – soccer) experience was seeing Nottingham Forest play back when I was a kid in England. I’ve been supporting them through good times and lots of bad since.

I moved to the US a long while ago – and my first MLS experience was with RSL in Salt Lake. When I moved to the Seattle area I came to a Sounders game – and found what I was missing. Passion, energy, noise, crowds, history and a rivalry or two.

I joined Alliance Council to give back – to the Club, to the Community. My first love – Nottingham Forest – celebrated 150 years back in 2015. I’d like to think that what we contribute builds that foundation for Sounders FC to be around for future generations.

I sit in Club 205 with my footy mad wife Grania or one of my two kids. In 2017 I supported from ten different sections of the Stadium.

The first time I was exposed to a hat trick, it was scored by my seven year-old nephew. The first time I saw a supporter group was the same match: the parents had drilled the lids of five-gallon buckets to astro-turf covered planks and made benches out of them.  But when the team scored, they leapt up, flipped over the “benches,” and used the five-gallon buckets as drums while they chanted.  It was the best thing ever.  My niece is still my favorite goal keeper (both kids have since “retired”).

I spend a lot of time thinking about how we’ll build Council and Alliance engagement when things are pretty good – people tend to get active when they are dissatisfied, not when they are satisfied.  How will we create the desire to build what we have for future generations?

I am an executive in the wholesale natural food business. My customers are millionaire CEOs, single store operators, and everything in between. I manage a brand of organic food products, and I speak about relevance in marketing, itemization, and merchandising at a lot of trade conventions.Speaking professionally makes it easier to get up in front of Sounders Alliance Members at the Annual Business meeting. I create strategy within my company and for our retail partners to accomplish sales and profit objectives, assemble the resources required, and build action plans. I use all of this experience on the Alliance Council.

My first introduction to soccer was playing in youth leagues while growing up in Seattle. As a kid, I attended many Tacoma Stars matches; however, it was not until the 1994 World Cup that I fell madly in love with the sport while attending fat camp in San Diego. Shortly thereafter, I became a Chelsea supporter (when they were still unbearably bad). I became a Sounders fan in the late-90s, while they were competing in the USISL A-League. I am also a supporter of Paris Saint-Germain, having lived in Paris while completing a degree in French and Francophone Studies.

In my everyday life, I am an attorney (focusing on entertainment law and small businesses), college and law professor, film producer, podcaster, radio disc jockey, and small business owner. I am also the Media Director for Gorilla FC. I currently sit on the Board of Directors of both Gorilla FC and One Hundred for Haiti.  In 2002, I was voted Silicon Valley’s Best Local Celebrity by readers of the Metro Silicon Valley and in 2010, a film I produced about the theft of our beloved Seattle Supersonics, Sonicsgate, won “Best Sports Film” at the Webby Awards and “Audience Choice Silver Medal for Excellence” at the Park City Film Music Festival.

Currently in my third term as a member of the Alliance Council, I joined to lend my expertise in the law and help make the fan experience in the stadium the best that it can be.

Season ticket holder since: 2009

I have been a season ticket holder since 2009 and love going to the game with my wife and daughter.  We have a great group that sits together and has become an extended family in section 131 (Tribe 131).  We live and breathe Sounders and I love working for those in the section as well as all of the Alliance Members.

I original joined the Alliance Council to be sure the organization keep activities for kids going.  I also wanted to make sure we did things now to preserve the fan experience for future generations.  The season has become a thing we share with many folks both for home and away games and I want to be sure we allow that to continue long into the future.

Our pregame actions include predicting scores, lineups, meeting up with friends around the stadium (home games) or neighborhood (away games) and watching warmups.

I didn’t grow up a soccer fan, and may have made some jokes to my soccer loving friends. That all changed when I went to my first Sounders game in May of 2009. I called the next day and put my deposit down for my own season tickets.

My passion for the sport could not be stronger. Since that game in 2009, I have been to one MLS Cup Final in Toronto, two World Cup’s, over 20 US National Team games, seen pro clubs in 5 countries and gone to countless away games. These trips have shown me what the sport is all about, bringing people together.

I ran for the the Alliance Council so I could have the opportunity to give back to the sport and club that has created so many life long memories for me and my family. When I hear the clubs ownership talk about their 2026 plan and the goal of filling the whole stadium, every game, I want to be part of building that foundation.

I sit in section 119 among friends and family. In 2017, my goal is to share the amazing experience and atmosphere at Century Link with as many new fans as I can.

Our beloved SuperSonics were stolen from us officially in 2008. I grew up listening to Kevin Calabro, rarely missing a radio broadcast when the team wasn’t on TV. I still want the Sonics back. Even with all of the anguish I had about being robbed of the Sonics, I was thrilled at the prospect of rooting for another much-loved Seattle team. In 2009, the Sounders MLS run began and I was all in.

I grew up playing soccer. As I got older, I focused on fastpitch and basketball. Although I played other sports, my mom was playing soccer into her 40’s. Many nights were spent playing with a soccer ball on the sidelines during her practices and games. I loved the competitive atmosphere surrounding the women.

Mom and I have been season ticket holders for the Sounders since 2009. We sit in section 139 with two of our friends. I want to improve the experience for fans while on Alliance Council.

The 1994 World Cup in the USA made me passionate about soccer, but it wasn’t until I moved to Seattle in 2008 that I lived in an area that shared my feelings for the beautiful game.

Thanks to the soccer community here in Seattle, I’ve met lifelong friends and have taken some incredibly epic trips across the world to watch soccer. I’ve been lucky enough to have been in attendance when the USA won the Women’s World Cup, seen the Sounders play at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, and most importantly celebrated with my friends, family and fellow supporters in Toronto as we won our first MLS Cup!

On match day I can typically be found starting my day with fellow Emerald City Supporters at Fuel before the gates open, ultimately ending up in the Brougham End supporting our boys!

Outside of soccer, I play goaltender in the Greater Seattle Hockey League, enjoy going to live concerts, and try to do what I can to make a positive mark in our local community.

I was first exposed to soccer at age 6 when I turned out for my neighborhood team.  It was love at first kick and I’ve been playing for 42 straight years since that day.  I’ve also been a coach, a referee and, most importantly, a fan to three amazing soccer players in their own right – my kids.  I’ve also been lucky enough to attend three World Cups and have been a Sounders season ticket holder since 2013.

I joined the Alliance Council to help make the best fan experience in MLS even better.  I’m interested in affordability, accessibility and getting more young fans involved in the experience.

In the real world I am an attorney for a private equity firm in Bellevue.  I love spending time with my family, playing golf or soccer, cooking and travelling.

I started playing soccer after college and now soccer consumes a large portion of my activities.  I coached youth soccer teams for a dozen years, attended games during the 1994 World Cup, traveled to several games in three different cities to cheer on the Sounders, and am a member of the Eastside Supporters Group.

I continue to play soccer once or twice a week plus have played in tournaments in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Hawaii.  Soccer led to the development of many lifelong friends and memories.

The Sounder games and experiences have been fantastic.  I joined the Council to contribute to and enhance the gameday experience for all Sounder and soccer fans.

Join me at one of the many tailgate parties, bars or restaurants around the stadium before the game.

I am a wine enthusiast and work in the industry in sales and marketing.

I have been a season ticket holder since the inaugural season and have been passionate about the Sounders since first kick. When I was younger, I used to wake up really early in the morning to watch the English Premier League before going out and playing on the torn up grass fields in the area. I believe it was then that I started to love this beautiful game.

I look forward to working on the Alliance Council and helping to make the overall experience better for all of our fans and supporters.

I’m a big fan of tailgating, so chances are you’ll find me barbequing on the grill at various tailgates or at the local bars like King St Bar & Oven and Girin. Please feel free to join me prior to the game!

I’ve been a Sounders fan since attending my first game in 1981. I fell in love with soccer, learning to play, coaching youth teams, and simply being a fan of the beautiful game. As a family that enjoys traveling, soccer has provided us the motivation for many unforgettable adventures, including five World Cups supporting the U.S. men’s and women’s teams, the 2004 Euros, league matches in Spain and England, as well as Cascadia away matches in support of the Sounders.

A Sounders FC season ticket member since 2009, I joined the Alliance Council to help develop the concept of democracy in sports, be a voice for Sounders fans, grow the Alliance community, and increase opportunities for the Alliance to be involved in Club decisions. I served as Council secretary in 2012-2013 and instigated the practice of inviting Sounders front office representatives to our meetings to help us better understand the Club’s operations and perspectives. I’ve coordinated Council outreach efforts, and continue to support Council initiatives to interact with fans and build the Alliance for the future.

I encourage Alliance members to share your ideas with us – or better yet, run for Council!  Go Sounders!

My first exposure to the beautiful game started as inter-office banter with a colleague but soon turned into an obsession with the game. My love of the Sounders started on a late night in Indianapolis with a Dempsey to Martins finish and of course some oba flips. I followed casually from Indiana for a few years, but then in a 2016 Copa America match sat randomly next to my future girlfriend then came for out for my first Cascadia Cup and as they say the rest is history.

I joined the Alliance Council lay some serious roots with the Rave Green Community and to give back to the whole. I sit in 124 amongst friends and the madness of ECS.

Hello!

Known as the soccer fanatic/jersey collector among my friends and co-workers, I’ve been going to Sounders matches since I moved to Seattle in 2010 and a season ticket holder since 2014.

Using soccer as my excuse to see the world, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to both the 2016 and 2017 MLS Cup Final as well as ~25 US national team matches including matches at the 2014 World Cup and the 2015 Women’s World Cup.

I joined the Alliance Council to give back to the club that has introduced me to amazing people and helped me create so many countless memories. I hope to use my time on the Council to help make Sounders matches more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

You can find me in Section 124 or in Pioneer Square drinking a pre-match beer.

I am a fun-loving soccer fan that loves her family and the people I surround myself with. I do photography on the side from my “real world” job and enjoy spending time with my loved ones, including our pup Audi (yes, as in the car- I’m a German / European car enthusiast).

As far as soccer is concerned, I played as a kid- into jr. high and high school on rec leagues but was really never any good- however I never lost the love for the game so when the Sounders became an MLS team, that seemed like a perfect fit for me to get involved again.

I am a forensic accountant by day and soccer supporter by night.

I have enjoyed soccer since I was kid playing YMCA indoor soccer.  I went to A-League Sounder matches as a kid and followed my Grandfather’s English team, Norwich City.

I have been a MLS Sounders Season Ticket Member since day one and love how the city of Seattle has embraced this team.

I have served on the Alliance Council since 2011.  I am the author of the Scarf Competition Resolution that has allowed season ticket members to design and vote on our annual scarf for the past three years.  I have also worked with other Council Members to improve the voting platform that is used to elect Council members and other votes.

I am a member of the Sounders Community trust and co-founder of Eastside Supporters.

I’m one of the lucky ones. My family exists because of the Sounders, my parents having met at a match in the NASL era.  My siblings and I all grew up playing, watching, learning and living in this community. This “game” is what makes me, me. It runs in my heart and through our community. I am completely smitten with my home city and my club.

I joined council to continue this undying love affair with Seattle soccer and to help guide its future. I know where soccer has been. I believe that the only way we can even begin to guide its future is to look at what’s been happening over the past 5 decades of club and fan relations overseas. How we can both benefit from what went right and what didn’t. We’ll use the knowledge of their past to make our future stronger and brighter.

Soccer is about family for me so on match days it’s not uncommon for me to be spending my time with them. I love the social aspect of the Sounders community so it’s comforting to walk into general admission and see all the familiar faces. After games is usually my favorite part, discussing and often debating on how well particular players did that match.

I have been a soccer fan for a long time. Originally from Minnesota, I played soccer in high school and club soccer in college. I was a Kicks fan. We had some early interaction with Seattle at the time. (one win and one loss in conference play.)  I moved to Federal Way in 1989, Married and have 3 lovely girls. I coached soccer in the early days and when they turned 11 left the coaching to the pros. All my girls have gone on to play soccer in college. Our family has witnessed the Sounders USL championship 2007. We have been season ticket holders since day one in section 205.  I still get excited when 40000+ fans are on their feet, hands above their heads, welcoming the players on the field.

I joined the committee to help get things done and face the new challenges ahead. I bring many years of experience as a district manager in the restaurant industry and currently working with IT for Denali Advance Integration. I have lead and served on many projects such as a community supper, rec soccer tournament, and on the board for my church.

I am having a great time as a fan of Sounders FC and would like to help the club continue and grow
